.....Exceeding the Challenge
ProMan has 5 separate types of participants. These are; Product Managers, Project Managers, Workers, Requesters, and the Administrator. Each participant category has different access to forms and reports. The Administrator has access to all data forms and reports, the requester on the other hand, has the most limited access. Each of the participants will be owners of tasks and is responsible for the status data in each task.
In the view of ProMan the Product Managers are responsible for the product health through out it's life cycle. They will determine which project(s) will be appropriate for the product(s). They can request the project directly or just authorize projects requested by others. The Product Manager is responsible to maintain and communicate the status of the project. This is easily done by a simple paragraph or two in the status text area on the Task Form for the Product Manager's task.
The Project Managers are required to develop the work plan, assign the workers to the tasks and monitor the performance of completion of the tasks. The actual planning takes place via other methods like MS Project or similar product. The schedule dates are then transferred to ProMan where it is attached to the actual work being performed.
Workers are where the actual progress forward is made. As work is performed, the status should be maintained. This will provide a real time view of the work order. Workers can have many tasks spread over many work orders. By looking at their task list they can prioritize their work. Because all the tasks are there no one can forget they was supposed to do something.
Requesters are the participants which open work orders which starts the entire process. The Requesters are able to monitor the process of the requested work and can see if what is being done will actually give them what is needed. Anyone can be a requester.
