.....Exceeding the Challenge
ProMan is a project management tool. It is designed to augment the ERP systems you may have in place. The difference being ProMan is project management in real time.
Accounting systems on the other hand need invoices to come in to be posted. This can delay the accuracy of reports if vendors are not prompt with their paperwork. Standard accounting also divides expenses up according to the general ledger. This can make it difficult to see which project a particular expense belongs to. With out extra reports being generated by the accounting department individual project details can be lost
ProMan keeps tract of the project expenses at requisition time. So when a worker requests the expense it is recorded. Regardless on how you process the request. Normally the independent request forms that ProMan generates will contain all the information needed for the purchasing departments to accurately purchase the needed material.
The basic premise is that someone will request some work via a work order. The necessary tasks will be assigned and monitored. Expenses are generated against each task by the task owners. Status in a text description, hours worked per week and percentage complete is generated by each task owner for each task. When all tasks are complete the work order is done.
All the information necessary to have a complete view of the projects is available in ProMan. This eliminates the need for everyone participating from generating lots of separate reports. Further if all the work is recorded as it is done a real time and online view of the work is available for everyone.
All reports are product centric, this way all expenses against a project are easily viewable. The 5 expense types are; Labor, Material, Capital, Travel and Shipping. All of these categories will be shown on reports as part of the project. For expenses like equipment rent use the miscellaneous category on the travel expense form. because of the way the reports are structured it will be easy what the expense actually is.
