ProMan Task States

Tasks are the main point of data collection for ProMan. All tasks are owned by a worker and are associated with work orders. This should help workers manage everything being asked of them and help to organize their time. Tasks, like work orders, will be in any one of a number of states during the course of its life. These are; Pending, Active, On Hold, Done and Cancel.

A task is opened in the in the Pending state. This tells the owner that they have some work to do in the future. When a worker starts the task he sets the task into the active state and leaves it there as long as he is working on it.

When a worker reaches an impasse on a task and cannot make any forward progress the worker should put the task into the On Hold state. When this happens the worker should identify what will release the On Hold status. This can be as simple as "I'm waiting for the parts to come in". Then the task can go back to Active until it is done.

The final state is the Cancel state. This will be set automatically when the Product Manager terminates or the task can be Canceled independently.
