ProMan Work Order States

ProMan gives you a view into a work orders through out the work orders life. During that life it will be in only one state at a time. The states are; Pending Approval, Pending Schedule, Scheduled, Active, Completed, Denied, Terminated and Suspense.

When a requester enters a new work order the work order will automatically be in the Pending Approval state. An email will be sent to the appropriate Product Manager. The Product Manager then examines the description of the work order and if it is except-able to send it on its way entering the Pending Schedule state or to kill the work order by putting it into the Denied state. All state changes will send email messages to the requester and to the appropriate person who needs to know if work is being requested. The entry to the Pending Schedule state will send messages to all Project Managers. The Project Managers will then see if there is any work for their teams and if so generate a plan and sets the work order into a Scheduled state.

Work may be scheduled for some time in the future and this can be reflected in the appropriate locations in the tasks. When work actually starts the Product Manager will get an email and puts the work order into an Active State. Work will finally conclude and the Product Manager can put the work order into the Completed state.

At any time the Product Manager can decide to cancel the work order and set the state to Terminated. This will automatically cancel all tasks associated with the work order. The last remaining state is the Suspense state. This allows the Product Manager to put the work order into a state where it is not active but isn't terminated.
